Beep Beep 

We are all runners....some of us just move a little slower.  It is not a competition with someone else that we need focus on....it is completing the race that was set before us at birth. We each have a special calling...a gifting ....that, if we are not careful will go by the wayside when we get sidetracked or attacked. I am an artist and had a very promising beginning in my art career. Art has always been my ministry as well. Suddenly I became very ill and for years did not paint. It was VERY easy to lay around and sleep all the time.... I was slowly drifting away. I had listened to the 'bad' report. It was the during last two weeks stay in a hospital that I woke up and made the decision to live and not die before my time. I started declaring 'thank you God that I am better today than I was yesterday and I will be better tomorrow than I am today' and 'thank you God I am better now than I was 30 minutes ago and I will will be better in thirty minutes than I am now.' Psalm 91....all the way through.....was my daily confession. It was not overnight and I still have challenges but I know that one day when my race is finished, I will finish strong because I never gave up. (But I almost did.)

Years ago I connected to someone on Facebook who became a good friend very dear to me.  She was in a 'painting a day' group that I had been watching. One day she messaged me and asked me if I painted. I told her my story and that I just could not do it anymore. She said well how about for a couple of hours each day? No, I said....I don't think so. Then how about 30 minutes ?!!!! She pushed me back into my creative zone just by her persistence and I am sure, a great deal of prayer.....a truly good friend indeed. I am very thankful that Kelly is in my life and I hope I am a blessing to her as well as we continue on through this wonderful journey.

  Masked Country Cousin  My family took vacations together when I was growing up. We would pack up the station wagon and drive....not fly..... to our destination. We stopped by small town gas stations to pee and if none was available my Dad would pull off on the shoulder of the road and open both of the doors on the passenger side and there I would squat and go.  I felt I was completely hidden....little did I know that the doors of the car were higher than my bare butt 😆.  Of course these roads were small country roads and hardly anyone passed us so it really didn't matter anyway. Thinking About July  So here's the deal...where did it go??? And what about May and June???? Time really seems to be flying. I got my first Christmas order today and I can tell you it really stunned me to think it's already order time! It doesn't get really cold down here like it gets up north during the winter, but, it is still so hot that it is hard to imagine we are heading toward the Holiday time of the year. Lisa and I went to Galveston for lunch yesterday. After a great fajita lunch at Salsa's we headed to West Beach to walk a little. The wind was so hot that we didn't make it far. We decided to come back on a cooler day....maybe one with a little cloud cover. The heat didn't seem to stop the masses from their beach vacations....tons of people and their kids and dogs were in the water. I saw a lot of sunburned faces !!   Paradise Our home is built on an acre. The number of critters that roam across our domain is remarkable. The town we live in is a bird sanctuary so there are always bunches of birds, but beyond that there are lots of different creatures. Some of them are just passing through, some are permanent residents. Yesterday I posted a couple of raccoons and I will try to post more of our locals over the next few days.  We have tons of squirrels. Several years ago we had a guest the brought her pet flying squirrel over to show us. She was in the back yard walking around with the little guy in her pocket when he suddenly escaped and ran up a nearby palm tree. She of course couldn't catch him and we thought we had seen the last of him. Almost a decade later, we had our tall palm trees trimmed. As the fronds fell to the ground there was a flurry of flying squirrels soaring from the palms to the nearby oak trees. At first we thought they were bats.....which also live in the tall palms.......
